CRANIO welcomes contributions of original scientific articles, letters to the editor, and special reports related to craniomandibular practices from all parts of the world. Our scientific papers are peer-reviewed by the editor and at least two other reviewers. In certain situations, outside reviewers may also be used. If you are an academic or scientific author who wants to submit a paper for publication, please review our Guidelines for Authors. If you would like to discuss your article submission, the best time to contact us is between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm EST or e-mail us anytime via our contact form.
CRANIO, The Journal of Craniomandibular Practice includes the following and seeks contributions in these categories:
Scientific articles (reviewed by the editorial board).
Research articles. These include experimental/laboratory research papers or theoretical papers and literature reviews.
Articles from the practice and clinic. These include procedures and individual case reports, clinical research reports, and clinical observations.
Letters to the editor (not reviewed by the editorial board).
General (not reviewed by the editorial board). These include (1) a listing of significant education courses and events under the heading "CRANIO Calendar," (2) editorials, (3) guest editorials, (4) book reviews, (5) Editor's Forum, (6) position papers, (7) special reports on current topics of interest, (8) General Dentistry Notes, and (9) Practice Management Update.
CRANIO recognizes that clinical reports and studies have often not been subjected to the same procedures and analysis that formal scientific research provides. However, we believe that these primary observations may lead scientific investigators to new areas of research and in-depth study, inspiring progress in the field of craniomandibular practice. The journal, therefore, encourages the submission of these works.
The decision to print a manuscript will be based on the opinions of the editor and at least two other reviewers from the editorial board or section editors. Outside reviewers may be used in addition to the above-mentioned. Articles containing statistical analyses will also receive a statistical review. Reviewers' names will not be revealed to the author, nor will authors' names be revealed to editors. Statements and opinions expressed in the articles and communications herein are those of the author(s) and the editor(s), and the publisher disclaims any responsibility or liability for such material.
CRANIO is primarily interested in publishing original manuscripts and priority will be given to these. If a manuscript has been simultaneously submitted to another journal, it must be so stated by the author at the time of submission to CRANIO.
In rare cases, the journal may accept previously published material if it is from a journal not normally available to our readers. Prior publication of abstracts will in no way prejudice the publishing of the complete study.
Copyright to all material published in CRANIO: The Journal of Craniomandibular Practice is vested in CHROMA, Inc. In accordance with the provisions of the Copyright Act of 1976, if the manuscript is accepted for publication it will be necessary for the editorial office to receive, in writing, the assignment of copyright from the authors to CHROMA, Inc. A form will be provided by the publisher, to be signed by all authors of the manuscript. Published manuscripts become the property of CRANIO: The Journal of Craniomandibular Practice and may not be reprinted without permission of the publisher.

To speed the review process, authors should also submit the manuscript on a CD-ROM. The CD-ROM, however, should be sent in addition to the copies described above.
Authors should retain copies of all items submitted.
Footnotes, legends for illustrations and titles of tables should be typed double-spaced on pages separate from the manuscript.
If any trademarked or patented products (including nongeneric drugs) or instruments are mentioned in the manuscript, the name of the manufacturer and the city where the manufacturer is located must be included.
